AMBER & J.D.

Food

For the reception we wanted to make sure the guests had lots of good food to eat.  We went with a local Italian restaurant, Babymoon Cafe,  in Morrisville to cater buffet style.  Along with tending to the food, they are going to serve any alcohol we provide, and will also cut the cake for us!

Menu:
Foccacia bread
Mixed green salad w/ranch or balsamic dressings
Grilled zucchini and squash
Chicken marsala
Penne ala vodka
Fussily ala nona

Cake

Since cakes are super expensive, J.D. and I have decided to get our wedding cake from Whole Foods Market.  We are getting 2 9" cakes, and 1 6" cake for around $100 with icing, border, and scrolls.  They will not be layered but we have a solution for that with the cake stand we are going to buy.

We haven't decided on the flavors yet but we are leaning toward chocolate cake with chocolate icing for the small 6" cake.  This will also be the cake we will put our cake topper on (picture below).  For the other 2 9" cakes we are thinking yellow cake with buttercream,  and for the other maybe something a little more exotic like neapolitan (chocolate, yellow, strawberry) with buttercream, or carrot cake with buttercream.

The 2 9" cakes are going to have white or off white icing, a white border, and white scrolls.  The 6" cake is going to be the opposite with chocolate cake with chocolate icing, and chocolate scrolls.  The small chocolate cake is going to have the cake topper, and the other 2 white cakes are going to have fondant lavender rose/calla lily sprays (pictured below).  We purchased the fondant sprays from sugarcraft.com.  The picture of the rose spray shows the roses as pink, but the ones that we ordered have a touch of lavender color.

Below is the cake stand we are going to use.  Ignore the ugly pink bows in the picture below, and envision 2 white cakes with white scrolls, white border, and a lavender rose spray on the top.  And for the small, envision a chocolate cake with chocolate scrolls and border, and the cake topper.
